MITEL 3300 ICP NAMED "BEST IP-PBX VALUE, MID-SIZE SYSTEMS"

The February 2005 edition of Business Communications Review (BCR)* magazine, in its Best-In-Test Review, announced that the Mitel® 3300 Integrated Communications Platform (ICP) was awarded the Best IP-PBX Value for Mid-Size Systems.

Testing was conducted by Miercom, a network consultancy and product test center in New Jersey. Competitors taking part in the mid-size review category included Alcatel, Avaya, Cisco, Mitel and Siemens. BCR noted that from a cost analysis, the 3300 ICP’s “rich features and good performance” was Mitel’s “Sweet Spot.” In the following evaluation criteria categories, Mitel received these additional comments:

Management and Administration
-- “There are a lot of discrete management applets and pieces with Mitel’s package … but the vendor has effectively consolidated them under a well-organized and fairly intuitive GUI called Enterprise Manager.”

-- “In general, the Mitel package is less tedious and more intuitive to use than competitors’̷= 0; To get essentially the same rich mix of functionality from Avaya or Cisco costs many times more.”

Features
Mitel Line Interface Module]
“Mitel picked up a couple more advanced-feature points for an incredibly simple, useful, and we believe unique, feature. This is a module that plugs neatly into the back of a teleworker’s IP phone and accepts a POTS analog line.

Mitel Your Assistant
Mitel has an impressive assortment of Windows XP and Win2000 Pro multimedia applications, including its softphone, in the next version of its Your Assistant suite. We reviewed a late beta of version 3.1, … due to ship this month.
To get essentially the same rich mix of functionality from Avaya or Cisco costs many times more.
In Call Quality Ratings, Mitel outscored the competition in the following test-call scenarios: Remote Office, Road Warrior and Teleworker.

* BCR is the premier magazine and a “must-read” for enterprise network managers and other communications professionals. In surveys published by the Wall Street Journal, the magazine is consistently voted as “the most important and useful communications magazine in America.”
